AVON — The Cleveland Clinic will break ground today on a new family health center in Avon.

The $97.9 million, 186,000-square-foot Avon Family Health and Surgery Center will be north of Interstate 90 on Just Imagine Drive, east of Nagel Road. It will be constructed near the planned new interchange with Interstate 90.

The facility, slated to open in 2011, will have a 24-hour emergency department with a helipad, an outpatient surgery center, physical therapy department with two pools, primary care services and more than 30 specialized care services including cardiology, orthopedics and primary care.

The Cleveland Clinic says it will generate about $1 million a year in city and state taxes and bring 400 jobs to the area.
