The parking lot at Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel remained full or close to full through the four-hour visitation. A mix of young people, the middle aged and senior citizens came and went. Mourners declined comment.

Simko died of a gunshot wound to the head Nov. 16 in a bedroom of his home at 2001 North Ridge Road.

The 36-year-old owned and operated Simko Tree Service out of the home with his wife, Julene.

Evidence in the case, including video from the Simkos’ surveillance system, is being processed and analyzed by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.

Vermilion Police Chief Bob Kish said Tuesday that there are no new developments either in Simko’s killing or the alleged break-ins at his home following the slaying.
