Car pulled from pond near North Ridgeville
NORTH RIDGEVILLE – The Wellington Fire Department’s Dive Team recovered a vehicle Saturday morning from a pond near the intersection of state Routes 10 and 83 south of North Ridgeville.
Timothy Wilson, 26, of Lorain, was driving his 1996 Buick Regal eastbound on state Route 10 at 5:55 a.m. Friday when he lost control, slid off the right side of the road, slid through a fence and into the pond.
Wilson crawled out of the driver’s side window and swam to shore while his car sank to the bottom, a Ohio Highway Patrol dispatcher said.
Wilson, who was wearing a seat belt, was cited with failure to control, the dispatcher said, adding that neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash.
