Thieves take family’s haul for holidays
ELYRIA — Police are hoping someone knows something about who broke into 121 Warren Ave. on Tuesday morning and stole Christmas presents belonging to 4-year-old twin boys.
Alicia Furstenberg, 23, went shopping Tuesday morning and came home to find a window broken, her front door open, her back door unlocked and 15 to 20 presents stolen from under the Christmas tree in her living room, according to a police report.
The Fisher-Price and Tonka toys had been wrapped in red SpongeBob Squarepants paper, according to a police report.
Police indicated there are no suspects and no fingerprint evidence in the home, the report read.
“We do have a couple of cases each year where homes are burglarized and presents are a part of what’s taken,” Elyria police Lt. Andy Eichenlaub said. “Unless someone learns something and brings us a lead we can verify with evidence, cases like that are difficult to solve.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Elyria Detective Bureau at (440) 322-1926.
