Man jailed, accused of locking family out
LORAIN — An Arkansas man is in jail after assaulting his girlfriend and locking her and her three young children outside Monday night, records show.
Larry Gann, 33, West Memphis, Ark., was charged with domestic violence, assault and three counts of endangering children after police were called to the 3900 block of Gary Avenue where Gann, his girlfriend, Angela Rice, 33, of Lorain, and her three children were staying with friends, according to a police report.
When Rice’s mother questioned old bruises, Gann and Rice began arguing and he locked her and children, ages 4 years, 2 years and 6 months, out of the house. When Rice’s friend confronted Gann, Gann punched her in the chest, police said.
Rice told police Gann had been arrested in Arkansas last week for domestic battery and endangering the welfare of minors. According to reports, Rice bonded Gann out of jail in Arkansas.
Rice and Gann had both been drinking, police said, adding Rice was also arrested on a driving under the influence warrant out of Erie County.
Rice’s mother took the children until other arrangements could be made with Lorain County Children Services, police said.
