Six hurt in three-car crash in Sheffield Township
SHEFFIELD TWP. — Six people, including three children, were taken to local hospitals following a three-car collision Thursday.
The crash took place about 1:26 p.m., Sheffield Township Fire Chief Joe Bandagski said.
Ohio Highway Patrol Lt. Travis Hughes said a red Ford Focus that was eastbound on North Ridge Road, which several witnesses described as being driven erratically just before the crash, went left of center and hit a silver Ford Focus, which was headed west.
The impact spun the red Focus around, and it hit a westbound Ford Explorer.
The male driver of the red car was entrapped and had to be cut out of his vehicle by firefighters.
Hughes said a medical condition the driver of the red Focus has may have contributed to the crash but declined to provide details. That driver will likely be cited in the crash, he said.
The drivers of the two Focuses were the only people in those vehicles. A Lorain woman and three children were in the SUV.
All of them were taken to area hospitals. Names and conditions of those involved in the crash were unavailable at press time Thursday.
