SHEFFIELD LAKE — A 54-year-old Lorain man was pronounced dead Thursday at the scene of a one-car crash on Lake Road.

The westbound car driven by Lawrence Kozloski went off the side of the road and hit a tree shortly before 11 a.m., according to a dispatcher for the Sheffield Lake Police Department.

Kozloski was briefly trapped in the vehicle before being freed by Sheffield Lake firefighters, according to a police dispatcher.

He said the investigating officer did not believe speed was a factor in the accident, which occurred in the 3500 block of Lake Road.

Lorain County Coroner Paul Matus will determine whether a medical problem such as a heart attack or stroke played a part in the crash, he said.

“They haven’t determined a cause,” the dispatcher said.
