A Lorain County teen who is serving 23 years to life for killing his mother and wounding his father in a 2007 shooting he blamed on the video game “Halo 3″ is featured on an E! network TV show airing this week and next.
“Two Young to Kill: 15 Shocking Crimes” profiles 15 children who killed. Daniel Petric was 16 at the time of the shooting.
His attorney said that Daniel snapped and killed his mom and shot his dad. Daniel, he said, was so blinded by video games that he didn’t realize “that his parents might be dead — they might never come back.”
Prosecutors said Daniel planned the murder of his parents for at least a week beforehand, stole the key to get his father’s gun and tried to frame his father to make it look liked a murder-suicide.
Daniel’s father, Mark, a pastor, talks on the show about his struggle to forgive his son for injuring him and killing his wife, Sue.
The Chronicle provided E! with photos and videos for “Too Young to Kill.”
