Elyria police

Saturday, Feb. 6

2:59 p.m. – 6600 block Midway Mall, an employee with Best Buy reported the theft of three Sony laptop computers from the store.

3:45 p.m. – 300 block Courtland St., a man reported receiving a bogus $2,500 check from a man claiming to be from Michigan who was trying to rent an apartment from the victim over Craigslist, according to a police report. The man tried to get the victim to cash the check and return a portion of it to him, something police said is a common scam.

9:05 p.m. – 100 block David Drive, Christian McGhee, 19, of Elyria, charged with domestic violence for repeatedly slapping the 17-year-old mother of his child. McGhee has a prior pending domestic violence charge against the same victim, according to police.

9:12 p.m. – 100 block Pepperdine Drive, a man reported a High Point subcompact 9mm black handgun missing from his residence.

Lorain police

Friday, Feb. 5

5:29 p.m. – 2400 block Apple Ave., school-issued laptop stolen from girl’s locker room at Southview High School.

8:47 p.m. – 1500 block Cedar Drive, Samuel David, 33, of Lorain, charged with aggravated burglary for entering his girlfriend’s mother’s house uninvited and threatening those inside.

Saturday, Feb. 6

12:03 a.m. – 500 block E. Erie Ave., Johnny Lee Burnette III, 23, of Lorain, charged with assault, endangering children, disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct persisting. Burnette is accused of yelling at the mother of his 3-year-old son while she was driving him home, getting out of their vehicle and taking the child from his seat and walking down the middle of the road with the toddler despite traffic flowing in both directions.

Sunday, Feb. 7

11:49 a.m. – Washington Avenue and West Ninth Street, a woman reported her boyfriend pinned her to her bed and later broke her television during an argument.

12:31 p.m. – 400 block W. 32nd St., a man reported a 16-year-old boy threatened him and his family.

1:54 p.m. – 1300 block Lindenwood Court, a man reported a woman mistakenly accused him of calling her 9-year-old child and threatened the man and his family.

Sunday, Jan. 24

8:57 p.m. – 1400 block East Ave., Carlisle Township, a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl, both of Elyria, charged with the theft of food from Convenient.

Thursday, Jan. 28

11:30 a.m. – 300 block Pine Hollow, Sheffield Township, a woman reported jewelry stolen from her residence.

Tuesday, Feb. 2

3:10 p.m. – 24700 block Sprague Road, Columbia Township, Nintendo Wii controllers, Xbox 360 and several video games stolen from residence.

Thursday, Feb. 4

10:20 a.m. – 15100 block state Route 58, Pittsfield Township, Nichole Bowden, 18, of North Ridgeville, charged with disorderly conduct persisting, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest at Lorain County JVS after refusing to obey instructions from a principal and a deputy and shoving the deputy, who was called to the school because Bowden and another female student were arguing, according to a sheriff’s report.
