6 running for Koziura’s seat, Koziura and 7 others want Blair’s post

It’s a crowded race for the 56th District state house seat as five Democrats and a Republican are running in the May primary.

The six are vying to fill the seat being vacated by Joseph Koziura, who has been representing the district since 2001 and is now running for county commissioner.

The Democrats are Charles Bailey V of Lorain, Jose Candelario of Lorain, Daniel Ramos of Lorain, Maria Zampieri Vitale of Lorain and Richard Williams of Oberlin. Henry Lewandowski Jr. is the lone Republican in the race.

Six Democrats and two Republicans are running for county commissioner. Koziura is one of the Democrats, along with Joshua Meszes of Carlisle, Ronnie Rimbert of Oberlin, Bret Schuster of Lorain, Victor Stewart III of Elyria and Berry Taylor of Grafton. Maurice Corbin III of Columbia Township and Thomas Williams Jr. of Amherst are running as Republicans.

Another crowded race is in the 58th District. Incumbent Republican Terry Boose of Norwalk is being challenged by five people in three parties.

The Democratic contenders are Gregory Davidson of Willard, George Mays of Norwalk and Kyle Wilson of Willard. Bob Williams of Oberlin is the Libertarian candidate. Patrick Saunders of Norwalk is running for the Green Party.

In the 57th District, incumbent Democrat Matt Lundy of Elyria will be running against Republican Rae Lynn Brady of Elyria and Libertarian Joshua Robertson of North Ridgeville.

Jason Schmidt of Wellington is joining fellow Republican Gayle Manning of North Ridgeville in the race against incumbent Democrat Sue Morano of Lorain for the state senate.

Incumbent Democrats Mark Betleski of North Ridgeville and Christopher Rothgery of Lorain are running unopposed for their Court of Common Pleas judge positions. Incumbent Lorain County auditor Mark Stewart of Elyria, a Democrat, also is running unopposed.

Democrat Chase Ritenauer of Lorain, and Republicans Robert Rousseau of Lorain, Robert Duncan of Norwalk, Pat McGervey of Avon Lake and Andrew Winemiller of Lorain are running for one state central committeeman spot. Democrat Ann Tanner of Elyria and Republicans Joyce Houck of Willard and Marilyn Jacobcik of Avon are running for another one.
