Lorain sweep: Details on the 20 people arrested

Bryan Atkinson, 19, who has addresses in Sheffield and Lorain, is charged with aggravated riot and two counts of felonious assault, all with gang specifications, for the Oct. 18 fight outside the Luna Del Mar bar on East 28th Street. He also is charged with two counts of participating in a criminal gang last year and two counts of trafficking in drugs for alleged sales on Nov. 28 and Dec. 4. He has numerous prior convictions for disorderly conduct, possession of drugs and traffic violations, according to Lorain Municipal Court records.

Terry Atkinson, 26, of Lorain, is charged with aggravated riot and two counts of felonious assault, all with gang specifications, for the Oct. 18 fight. He also is charged with participating in a criminal gang from 2006 through 2009.
He served six months for trafficking in cocaine in a 2003 case and received eight months in prison on marijuana and cocaine charges from cases in 2006 and ’07. He also has many traffic, drug and other convictions out of Lorain Municipal Court.

Randy Atkinson, 29, is charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated riot and two counts of felonious assault, all with gang specifications, for his role in the Oct. 18 death of 32-year-old Eric Witcher, who died from a heart attack following a fight outside the Luna Del Mar bar. He also is charged with participating in a criminal gang from 2004 to ’09. He has served prison time for aggravated riot and felonious assault and has been on probation since 2008, when he was given judicial release in the felonious assault case. He also has an extensive record through Lorain Municipal Court with prior convictions for disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and numerous traffic infractions.

Michael Blake, 26, is charged with participating in a criminal gang, trafficking in drugs and possession of cocaine.
He also has a pending drug case in county Common Pleas Court and prior convictions out of Lorain Municipal Court on menacing and traffic violations.

William Blake, 22, of Lorain, is charged with a single count of participating in a criminal gang last year. He also has two pending drug cases in county Common Pleas Court and has prior convictions for marijuana possession, driving under suspension and numerous other traffic violations.

Jason Fowler, 24, of Lorain, is charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault and aggravated riot in connection with Witcher’s death. He has prior convictions in Lorain Municipal Court for criminal damaging and numerous traffic violations.

Raymond Fowler III, 19, of Elyria, is charged with participating in a criminal gang in 2008 and ’09. He also faces charges of possession of cocaine and resisting arrest stemming from a Feb. 5 arrest. Fowler pleaded guilty in December to aggravated robbery, possession of criminal tools and having weapons under disability and was awaiting sentencing in that case.

Eddie Gage, 20, of Lorain, is charged with participating in a criminal gang last year, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of criminal tools and two counts of trafficking in drugs. He already had a pending cocaine trafficking charge and Lorain Municipal Court records also show he has numerous prior convictions, including for DUI and trespassing.

Billy Gilbert, 25, of Lorain, is charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated riot and two counts of felonious assault in connection with Witcher’s death. He also is charged with participating in a criminal gang in 2009.
Gilbert has prior felony and misdemeanor convictions, including domestic violence and weapons and drug charges, and has spent time in prison for some of those convictions.

Correy Hill, 21, of Lorain, is charged with felonious assault and aggravated riot, both with gang specifications, for his role in the Oct. 18 fight. He also is charged with participating in a criminal gang last year. He served two years in prison after pleading guilty in several cases from 2004 to ’05 to charges of assault, robbery, escape and failure to comply.

Brandon Johnson, 27, of Lorain, is charged with participating in a criminal gang in 2009. He already had pending drug charges, including drug trafficking, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and conspiracy in addition to obstructing official business and weapons charges, when he was arrested as part of the investigation. Johnson has an extensive record in Lorain Municipal Court, including convictions for obstructing official business, criminal trespassing, underage consumption and marijuana possession. Johnson was one of three people arrested in December while executing a search warrant at a West 25th Street home. The search warrant turned up a loaded .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun, cocaine, crack and marijuana as well as almost $3,000 in cash. Also arrested during that raid were Freddie Sanchez and Lantous Thorpe, who also were charged as part of this week’s gang sweep.

Andrew Lorenzana, 20, of Lorain, is charged with participating in a criminal gang in 2009 and ’10 and with four counts of trafficking in drugs for drug sales that allegedly took place last month. He also faces drug, domestic violence and other charges in Lorain Municipal Court, where he has many convictions, including for underage consumption, obstructing official business and numerous traffic violations. Lorenzana also has been a suspect in two high-profile cases, including the shooting of Christopher Lundberg on Feb. 3, 2009, in Lorain. Lorenzana and Avery Taylor were charged with murder in the case after Lundberg’s death, but prosecutors later dropped the charges.
The case remains under investigation.

Bohannon Miller, 20, of Lorain, is charged with felonious assault with a gang specification for his role in a hit-and-run in which he and Avery Taylor allegedly rammed a vehicle and then chased down three men in the vehicle. Miller also is accused of participating in a criminal gang from 2007 to 2010. He has a pending charge of obstructing justice for allegedly lying to police about what he knows about the June 22 shooting death of Marquis McCall at West 13th Street and Long Avenue. He also has pending drug, weapon and theft charges and has previously served time in prison for aggravated riot.

Maurice Palmer, 19, of Avon, is charged with participating in a criminal gang last year as well as three counts of trafficking in drugs for sales that allegedly took place in November and December. He also is charged with falsification.
He already had drug and obstruction of justice charges pending in county Common Pleas Court and has prior convictions for obstructing official business, underage consumption and other charges in Lorain Municipal Court.

Oneta Roberts, 33, of Lorain, is charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs. She has prior convictions on drug offenses as well as for theft and passing bad checks.

Freddie Sanchez, 23, of Lorain, is charged with aggravated riot and two counts of felonious assault, all with gang specifications, for the Oct. 18 fight. He also is charged with participating in a criminal gang in 2009 and was among those arrested during a December raid by Lorain police. He also has drug trafficking and weapons cases pending in county Common Pleas Court. Sanchez received seven months in prison in a 2005 aggravated riot case and received 10 months behind bars after pleading guilty in three drug and weapon cases in 2007. He also has been convicted on receiving stolen property and other charges in Lorain Municipal Court.

Cameron Seymore, 27, of Lorain, turned himself in to Lorain police Wednesday on charges of murder, aggravated riot, felonious assault and involuntary manslaughter in Witcher’s death. Seymore has been incarcerated in the past and has convictions including domestic violence, child endangering and receiving stolen property, in addition to numerous drug charges.

Avery Taylor, 20, of Lorain, is charged with felonious assault with a gang specification for the same Jan. 13 attack that Miller has been charged in, as well as participating in a criminal gang in 2009 and receiving stolen property. A jury cleared Taylor last year of his alleged involvement in a Sheffield Township home invasion in which the homeowner was held at gunpoint while the robbers ransacked her home for drugs and guns. When he was charged with that robbery, Taylor was free on bond on a murder charge. He and Lorenzana faced murder charges in the shooting death of Christopher Lundberg, but those charges were later dropped. Taylor also has convictions from Lorain Municipal Court including underage consumption, driving under suspension and obstructing official business, according to court records.

Lantous Thorpe, 22, of Elyria, is charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated riot and two counts of felonious assault in connection with Witcher’s death. He also is charged with participating in a criminal gang from 2005 to ’09. This is the second time Thorpe has been charged in connection with someone’s death. He received a three-year prison sentence in 2005 after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and other charges in the stabbing death of 26-year-old Maurice Taylor during a June 2005 fight on Ely Square. Thorpe was arrested in December, along with Johnson and Sanchez, when Lorain police executed a search warrant.

Evan Williams, 18, of Lorain, is charged with participating in a criminal gang from 2009 to ’10 as well as trafficking in drugs from two sales that allegedly took place in January. He has a prior conviction for obstructing official business out of Lorain Municipal Court, where he is currently facing charges of driving without a license and driving under suspension.

Wanted

Artis Taylor III, 24, of Lorain, still was being sought Wednesday on charges contained in a secret indictment.

He has an extensive criminal history that has sent him to prison on charges including kidnapping, trafficking in drugs and weapons charges.
