‘Z’ gets buyout, could decide by this weekend

According to the Washington Post and ESPN.com, former Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas has reached a contract buyout agreement with the Wizards and could make a decision where he will play by this weekend.

Cleveland, Denver, Utah, Dallas and Atlanta are pursuing the 34-year-old center, who reportedly gave back between $1 million and $1.5 million of his $11.5 million contract.

Ilgauskas can sign with any other team immediately, but must wait until March 21 to rejoin the Cavaliers, who traded him to the Wizards last week in the deal that brought Antawn Jamison to Cleveland.

Denver is said to be making a strong push, but Ilgauskas’ family is in the Cleveland area and the Cavaliers probably represent his best opportunity to win a championship.
