Charley Casserly says first round best since 1983

INDIANAPOLIS — Charley Casserly, a CBS analyst who was general manager of the Houston Texans and Washington Redskins, thinks the upcoming NFL Draft is loaded with top-end talent.

“It’s the best first round I’ve seen since 1983,” he said Friday at the scouting combine.

The famous draft included Hall of Fame quarterbacks John Elway, Dan Marino and Jim Kelly.

Casserly said he has talked extensively to numerous teams’ front offices about the draft, and the consensus is Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford is a top-five pick — if his shoulder’s healthy.
