Man sues ex over pricey engagement ring

ELYRIA — A Vermilion man wants his ring back.
Daniel Lucas filed a lawsuit Wednesday in Lorain County Common Pleas Court, alleging that his former fiancee, Linda Gerek, won’t return the 2.01-carat diamond engagement ring he gave her, which is worth $31,625.
Lucas’ attorney, Anthony Giardini, said it is only right that Gerek give the ring back to Lucas.
“He gave her a ring, and she broke up with him Dec. 19, 2009, so she breached the agreement and Lucas wants the ring back,” Giardini said.
The couple had been engaged since July 2008, Giardini said.
