Fire investigator wraps up at Highland Court fire scene
The state fire marshal’s investigator has wrapped up for the day after finding and removing evidence from the scene of Tuesday’s fire at 114 Highland Court.
A fire investigation dog, a black Lab that is trained to sniff out fire accelerants, alerted at multiple locations in the wreckage of the home. Several of those that were in the same general vicinity that a previous fire in November had started, according to family members at the scene.
Investigators bagged evidence, placed numbered markers and photographed multiple locations and removed sections of the floor with reciprocating saws.
A backhoe was brought to the scene to help move the debris around.
The investigators drew a small crowd of neighbors and family members as they processed the scene.
Yolanda Panter, who lived in the home, was their with three of her adult children, Mary, Joe and Eric.
They said they were pleased that evidence apparently was found.
“We want whoever did this brought to justice,” Mary Panter said.
According to family members, the dog seemed to alert in an archway leading to stairs, on hallway steps and in the living room.
