Road reflector crashes through windshield
AVON - The police and fire departments responded to a traffic incident on Interstate 90 on Saturday afternoon in which a road reflector flew through the windshield of a minivan.
Avon Fire Capt. Tim Barrett said a man was driving his Dodge minivan east on I-90 near the 150 mile marker near All Pro Freight Stadium when something crashed through his windshield and hit him in the shoulder.
“I don’t know if a car or a semi or something kicked it up, but it flew right through this man’s windshield,” Barrett said.
The metal-mounted reflectors are about 6 inches by 8 inches and weigh around 6 pounds, Barrett said.
The man’s wife and three kids were also in the van with him.
“That’s amazing,” Barrett said. “The guy’s lucky that it didn’t hit him in the face or the teeth because who knows what would have happened.”
The man pulled over to the side of the road and called for help.
“He seemed kind of bewildered,” Barrett said, adding the man didn’t require medical attention.
