Boys regional basketball: Avon Lake falls to Mentor

CLEVELAND — Avon Lake battled back from a large early deficit to get within four late, but came up short Wednesday night in a Division I regional semifinal at Cleveland State University. Mentor 64, Avon Lake 58.

Mentor will play the winner of the second game between St. Ignatius and St. Edward.

The Shoremen finished 17-8 after an unexpected postseason run.
