The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Daniel L. Kulas

Editor’s note: Due to problems with The Chronicle’s e-mail server, Daniel L. Kulas’ obituary was inadvertently omitted from today’s newspaper. It is Chronicle policy not to put obituaries online in their entirety under normal circumstances.

Daniel L. Kulas, 41, of Lorain, died suddenly at his home on Wednesday March 17, 2010. He was born March 4, 1969 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Dan graduated from Admiral King High School in Lorain in 1987. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1987 to 1991 with the rank of Senior Airman. He was awarded the Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Longevity Service Award.

Dan worked for Continental Airlines at Cleveland Hopkins Airport as the lead ramp since 1993.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and American Legion Post #118 in Amherst. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his son Christian play football, traveling, playing golf and sports.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Tina Kulas (nee Lopez); children, Daniel R. Kulas and Christian D. Kulas, both at home; step-daughter, Shyanna Brooks; step-grandchildren, Juliana Kaliszewski and Janessa Kaliszewski; mother, Nancy Kulas (nee Schroeder) of Lorain; and sister, Cheryl L. Wilson (Dominic) of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard D. Kulas on March 25, 2008; and infant brother, David Kulas.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 19, 2010, from 5 to 9 P.M. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 9:15 A.M., in the funeral chapel, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Reverend Charles Diedrick, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
