LORAIN — A fire in a Lorain apartment building left five to eight people temporarily homeless Thursday.
The Lorain Fire Department reported the fire started about 3:30 p.m. along an exterior wall of an apartment on the third floor. All the tenants in the 12 units in the building in the 2600 block of West Erie Avenue were evacuated as the fire was fought.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The initial damage estimate is $15,000. There was little smoke damage to the third-floor apartment, but it and the two apartments below are uninhabitable because of water and possible electrical damage.
