Woman pulled over by man claiming to be cop

LORAIN — A woman told police she was driving home Wednesday afternoon when she was followed and stopped by a man who said he was a police officer.

Reports said the woman, 40, was westbound on Colorado Avenue about 5:15 p.m. when she had what reports termed “a small traffic confrontation” with a man driving a silver Ford Taurus with Pennsylvania license plates. After the incident, the man followed her to her Alexander Avenue home.

Remaining in his vehicle, the woman approached him and asked what he was doing. The man told her he was a police officer, wanted to see where she lived, and asked “why were you doing 50 in a 25?” The man then started to write down the woman’s license plate and address.

When the woman called police, the man fled. The man was said to be an unkempt looking, thin white male in his 60s, with gray hair, a full beard, wearing glasses and a gray and white flannel shirt.
