Hungarian cabbage roll sale, orders taken until Sunday at Elyria Magyar United Church of Christ, 6119 West River Road South, Elyria. $11 per dozen for cooked cabbage rolls. Pancake & sausage breakfast, 7:30 a.m. until all are served May 31 at Brighton Congregational Church, 22086 State Route 511. $5 for adults and $3 for children. No one will be served 9 to 9:30 a.m. so that all can attend the Brighton Township Memorial Day parade and ceremony. Proceeds benefit the church building project.

Strawberry Festival, 4 to 7:30 p.m. June 16 at St. John Lutheran Church Hall, 1140 West River Road North, Elyria. $6 advance sale, $7 at the door. Homemade shortcake with strawberries and ice cream, and more. 50th annual Strawberry Festival is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Elyria.
Funeral fundraiser, 6 to 8 p.m. June 1 at Harry Buffalo, Midway Mall, Elyria. $10 per person includes chicken wings or tenders, pizza, veggies, and unlimited pop and beer. For ticket information, call Marion at (440) 288-0424. Proceeds go to cover funeral expenses for John Rovenolt. The family lost three family members within eight months. All of proceeds go directly to the funeral home.

Cruise fundraiser. Sail with the Vermilion Knights of Columbus on Sept. 18 to New England and Canada aboard the Holland America Maasdam. Eyeglass recycling, The Elyria Evening Lions Club offers several locations for eyeglass recycling to benefit those who are in need in our community. Drop-off locations for eyeglasses are: Coffman Optical, 1027 E. Broad, Elyria; Cleveland Clinic, 833 E. Broad, Elyria; Dr. Dostal, East Avenue, Elyria; First Place Bank, 200 Middle Ave., Elyria; Lorain National Bank, Cleveland Street, Elyria; Moose Lodge, Ternes Avenue, Elyria; and Lang Optical, 280 S. Logan, Elyria.
Cookbook sale, “Recipes of Renown” by Lorain County Historical Society’s Women’s Association. $8.50 per book, which includes 85 recipes, has several pages of historical information and more. Cookbooks can be picked up at the Lorain County Historical Society’s office at the Hickories Museum, 509 Washington Ave., Elyria, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Shirts and caps, The Elyria Schools Friends & Alumni Association is selling stitched T-shirts, golf shirts, sweatshirts and baseball caps in the school colors with Elyria High Pioneers and “Mr. Pioneer” or Elyria West Wolverines with “Wolverine Paw.” Also available are EHS Washington Building keepsake ornaments. General Mills Box Tops and Campbell’s UPCs for Ely School. Mail or drop off at the school, 312 Gulf Road, Elyria, anytime before June. Proceeds will buy materials for the Media Center, which benefits the whole school.
Cookbook sale, First Baptist Christian School of Elyria. Cookbook is $10 and includes 300 recipes. For information or to buy, call Linda at (440) 458-5185. Proceeds will be used to support student athletes and scholarship fund.
Bingo, 11 a.m. Mondays and 7 p.m. Wednesdays at Elyria Roll Arena, 908 Cleveland St., Elyria. A donation of canned food will get two free bonanzas; all food donations go to Elyria Hospitality Center.
Bingo, 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at St. Stanislaus Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Doors open at 5 p.m. Door prizes, hot food, $1,000 jackpot, progressive flash board and jug ball games included. Sponsored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lorain County.
