A woman missing from Wooster since Saturday morning may be in the Elyria area, Wooster police reported.

Wooster Police Chief Steven Glick said Susan Ryan, 58, was classified as “at-risk” missing, as she left of her own accord with only a handgun, a map of the Wooster area and her ID.

Relatives said it was possible Ryan may be in the area, as Elyria is her hometown.

Ryan is white, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs about 110 pounds, has brown hair, blue eyes, wears glasses and is a heavy smoker. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and sneakers. She does not own a car and is believed to have left the city on foot. Cab companies in Wooster which regularly drove Ryan around told police they had not seen her since before she went missing.

Between 6 and 9 a.m. Saturday, Ryan left a friend’s home where she was staying near Saybolt Avenue and West Liberty Street in Wooster. Police said Ryan left her belongings, including cell phone, purse and credit cards, along with money to care for her dog and directions on disposing of her belongings.

Glick said police have twice searched a park near the friend’s home and also are searching creek beds and railroad tracks. Cab companies in Elyria have not reported seeing her, and friends in the Elyria area told police they had not heard from Ryan in several weeks.

Anyone with information on Ryan is asked to call Wooster police at (330) 287-5700.
