Drop off your LeBron gear in the CT lobby

Got LeBron gear you’ve got no use for? There’s a better option than burning it, according to Chris Jungjohann. Junjohann has organized an effort to collect No. 23 gear to be sent to homeless shelters in South Florida.

People with LeBron James gear to donate can do so at any Yours Truly restuarant location. Click here for a list of locations. Anyone who turns in gear at a Yours Truly restaurant will receive a free “Breakup with LeBron” T-shirt in return while supplies last. More info is available at Breakupwithlebron.com.

Lorain Countians who wish to donate can do so in the lobby of The Chronicle-Telegram. They won’t receive the free T-shirt, but they can be confident their forsaken wear is going to a good cause. Anyone who donates at The Chronicle, 225 East Ave., Elyria, will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a variety of prizes — Cedar Point tickets, Jet Express tickets, African Safari tickets and T-shirts and stickers from the folks at Breakupwithlebron.com, to name a few.

Anyone determined to get one of those “It’s not us, it’s you” T-shirts can order one for $15, plus $3 shipping, at http://www.breakupwithlebron.com/. Proceeds from the shirts are going to the Cleveland City Mission.

Jungjohann, who helped organize the effort, said the “outpouring of positivity” has been amazing.

This effort, started by a “couple of guys,” he said, has “gone nuts,” with the video going viral overnight.

He said he wanted to do this because “There’s a better way to deal with your frustrations than burning jerseys.”

His hopes are to fill a U-Haul he can drive down to Miami.

If you plan on dropping LeBron gear off at The Chronicle, keep in mind office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Friday, July 30, is the deadline to make sure your donations get into the hands of those who can use — and want — them.

Don’t forget to snap a last pic of you with your No. 23 stuff. Upload to The Chronicle’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/chronicletelegram. Any large groups of people turning in gear or people with particularly large collections are welcome to call the newsroom, 329-7155, and let us know you’re coming, as we’d love to take a picture.
