Several Grafton residents are fed up with the way juveniles disrespect North Park and its amenities, and they want the Grafton Police Department to help keep the park enjoyable for everyone.
On July 15, a resident called police at 6:45 p.m. to advise that several juveniles were under the pavilion “cursing and being obnoxious.” An officer arrived at the park and took one juvenile back to the station. When his mother arrived to pick him up, she was advised of his cursing and attitude.
On July 16, officers patrolling the park at 5:49 p.m. told four older juveniles that they need to “start respecting the property or they would be ejected from the park.” They were advised to tell their friends, as well. However, at 5:54 p.m., a caller to police stated that several juveniles were “lying on the picnic table.”
He told the dispatcher that he had spoken with an officer about the situation before and that he would like the juveniles advised about their behavior again.
Then, on July 17, a complaint was lodged at 6:09 p.m. stating that three vehicles were at North Park doing “donuts” in the parking lot. The three drivers were advised.
Finally, on July 19, a male resident reported that juveniles were walking on the picnic tables. He also stated that “he will be calling until all of this stops and (he) wants the officer to advise all the juveniles that they must use the bike rack.” A police unit responded and advised the juveniles of their behavior once again.
A Grafton Police dispatcher said officers have begun patrolling North Park more frequently.
