NEW RUSSIA TWP. — A two-car crash near Oberlin left two people with minor injuries Sunday afternoon.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of state Route 58 and Butternut Ridge Road.
A Hyundai Elantra driven by Melissa Bender, 36, of Sheffield, was struck by a Dodge pickup driven by Mark Rankin, 35, of Oberlin. The Highway Patrol reported it was not determined if Bender stopped before crossing the intersection. She was cited for failure to yield.
Route 58 and Butternut Ridge Road were both shut down for about 35 minutes as the accident was cleared.
Bender was treated for neck pain and released from Allen Community Hospital. Two passengers in her car were not injured. Rankin was treated at Allen for a minor cut to his forehead, and released.
