Indians trade Peralta to Tigers
The Indians have traded third baseman Jhonny Peralta to the Tigers for minor league pitcher Giovanni Soto.
The trade, which includes the Indians sending cash to Detroit, was announced less than an hour before the scheduled 7:05 game time.
Soto, 19, has spent the entire season at Class A West Michigan, where he has compiled a 6-6 record and 2.61 ERA in 16 starts. The left-hander is expected to report to Class A Lake County.
Luis Valbuena, Cleveland’s opening day second baseman, was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to replace Peralta on the 25-man roster.
Andy Marte started in place of Peralta at third Wednesday night.
