Elyria men charged in April gun incident at Vic’s
ELYRIA — An intoxicated man pointed a gun at security and patrons at Vic’s Nightclub in April before driving off with a second man who accompanied him in the bar, according to court documents filed Wednesday by prosecutors.
Derick Harris, 21, is charged with having weapons under disability, carrying concealed weapons, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises and using weapons while intoxicated.
Ean King, 20, of Elyria, is charged with carrying concealed weapons and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Harris and King were arrested April 4 after police stopped the Oldsmobile Aurora that King was driving. A 9 mm semiautomatic handgun loaded with 11 live rounds — and one round in the chamber — was found in the car, according to prosecutors.
Both Harris and King were intoxicated, the documents stated.
Harris previously was found delinquent as a juvenile for possession of cocaine and has arrests for aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct, the documents stated, while King was previously charged with robbery.
No shots were fired during the incident at Vic’s, one of several that have involved guns in downtown Elyria bars that have led city officials to discuss ways to stem violence in the area.
