Thieves clean Elyria woman out of jewelry, electronics, guns

ELYRIA — An Elyria woman’s home was burglarized and dozens of items — including two handguns — were taken, according to a police report, but the victim didn’t notice the theft until days later.

According to the report, the Bell Avenue woman was out of her home from about 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. She returned to her home and noticed some items has been moved around but did not realize she had been burglarized.

She contacted police Tuesday when she noticed two handguns were missing from her gun safe. Officers found no signs of forced entry.

According to the report, the following items were taken:

  • 2 digital cameras
  • 3 watches: Fossil, Guess and Movato
  • 2 handguns: 9 mm Sky Sub and .38-caliber Charter Arms
  • Gun holster
  • 109 rounds of 9 mm ammunition
  • Video camera
  • Pink DS portable game player and 13 games
  • 2 cell phones
  • Set of pearls
  • 3 gold necklaces with charms
  • Mystic topaz ring
  • Topaz ring
  • 4 silver garnet rings
  • Emerald and diamond bracelet
  • Emerald and diamond ring
  • 2 diamond cluster rings
  • Ruby and diamond ring and necklace
  • Garnet ring
  • ½-carat diamond earrings
  • 2 mother’s rings: one with seven stones and one with three stones
  • ½-carat tennis bracelet
  • White-gold ring with diamonds
  • 2 sets of birthstone earrings
  • 3 birthstone rings: 2 amethyst and one aqua-marine

According to the report, there are no suspects or witnesses. Police noted several high-priced items were left in the home, including a laptop and an Xbox game system.
