Report: Man says trio assaulted him near Ely Square
ELYRIA — An Elyria man said three men pushed him off his bike and onto the ground and then kicked and punched him for several minutes while he lay curled in a fetal position over the weekend near Ely Square.
Kevin Reedy, 44, reported the attack to police yesterday morning but said it had happened about 11:30 Saturday night. He said he suffered a slight concussion, a broken finger and bruises and abrasions but had been medically cleared. He said after the attack when he stood to collect his glasses and items that had fallen out of his pocket, he realized his wallet, containing $250, his bank card and his ID, was missing.
He said he knew the men, and two were his ex-girlfriend’s sons and the third was a roommate of theirs. He said he had been out with the ex-girlfriend a couple nights earlier and had grabbed her to prevent her from falling to the ground because she was highly intoxicated. He said her sons may have seen the marks from him grabbing her and may have believed he assaulted her.
Reedy brought two people to the station he said had witnessed him being attacked. They gave statements to police that backed up his story.
