LORAIN – A Lorain man was arrested Saturday evening after allegedly trying to steal several bottles of body wash from Rite-Aid, then assaulting an employee.

Windsor Terlonge Jr., 28, of Lorain, was charged with robbery and resisting arrest.

According to Lorain police, the robber entered the store, in the 2700 block of Broadway, and began stuffing items in his pants pockets, inside his pants and under his shirt. An employee saw this and locked the double doors at the store entrance and called for his supervisor.

The two confronted Terlonge at the entrance. Terlonge reportedly denied taking anything, then handed over two bottles of body wash and apologized. Two arrested in DUI stop

ELYRIA – Two people were arrested early Sunday following a traffic stop.

Denise Harubin, age and address unknown, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Ernest Beckett, 25, of Elyria, was charged with possession of marijuana and was also arrested on two bench warrants.

According to Elyria police, an officer observed a green Buick weaving across lanes as it headed southbound on Middle Avenue near Ninth Street. The left turn signal was activated, and the officer reported that it appeared the driver was attempting to make a left turn where there was nowhere to turn.

The vehicle was stopped after it turned onto Howe Street. Harubin, who was driving, smelled of alcohol, police said. When an officer asked her to get out of the car for field sobriety tests, she refused, telling the officer that her lawyer said to never perform field sobriety tests. She was arrested then and later refused a breath test.

As Beckett was being arrested on the bench warrants, a marijuana cigar was discovered on the floor of the car by his feet as he got out of the car. Beckett told police he had more marijuana in his right shoe. Police retrieved a bag that weighed 4.4 grams.

Lorain man charged with pizza holdup

LORAIN – A Lorain man was charged with holding up a pizza deliveryman Friday, according to a police report.

Steven Harrison, 18, is charged with aggravated robbery, obstructing official business and tampering with evidence.

According to Lorain police, the victim said he was making a delivery in the 1700 block of Crehore Street around 3:20 p.m. when he was met at the delivery address, later discovered to be vacant, by Harrison. The victim said Harrison walked up behind him and put a black handgun, later seen by the victim, to the left side of the victim’s head and ordered him to the ground. Harrison reportedly then yelled at the victim, using a racial slur, demanding his cell phone. When the victim said he had no phone on him, Harrison allegedly went through the victim’s pockets and found $15. Harrison allegedly then fled east on Crehore Street. The victim was not injured in the robbery.

While this was happening, the victim said, two heavyset black women walked by as if nothing were going on. The victim added that when he fled to report the crime to police, he saw the suspect with the same two women.

When the pizza shop manager called the phone number given with the pizza order, Harrison, under an assumed name, reportedly told him that he let an unknown male use his phone, the police report said.

Police found Harrison riding a bike. He first told police he was at a Massachusetts Avenue address when an unknown male asked to use his cell phone to call for a ride, used the phone and then left. He told police the phone was at a residence on Fillmore Circle being charged. When police went with him to retrieve the phone, Harrison reportedly told police his younger brother may have the cell phone. When police entered the residence, there was no phone.

Police said Harrison’s story continued to change, and he was arrested for obstructing official business. Further questioning led to the other charges, and Harrison showed police where he hid his cell phone, the report said.
