The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Thomas Edward Willbond

flag4Thomas Edward Willbond, 64, of Ober­lin, passed away Wed­nesday, September 1, 2010 at Allen Community Hospital in Oberlin. He was born to George and Elizabeth Willbond on November 25, 1945 in Oberlin.

Tom graduated with the Oberlin High School Class of 1965. He also attended Ash­land University and Wichita State. LaPoint of South Am­herst and grandchil­dren, Hunter, Brayden, Lauren and Lexi; Thomas is also survived by a brother, Bill (Sharon) Will­bond and sisters, Karen (Clayton) Kaiser, Marilyn (Bill) Clapp and Laural Capp.

A very patriotic man, Tom served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was the past commander of the Oberlin American Legion Post 102 and a life member of the Am Vets Post 32 in Elyria. Tom worked as an excava­tor for Clark Brothers Inc. for 25 years and T.J. Hume for 16 years. Most recently, Tom was employed by John Berk­meyer Painting and the New Russia Township. His pas­sions were golfing and play­ing baseball and football. Tom also enjoyed his grand­children and the time he spent with them.

Survivors include his wife of almost 20 years, Sheri­anne; sons, Breck Willbond of Dundee, Michigan, Todd Willbond of Vermilion, Shawn Willbond of Welling­ton; step-daughter, Sarah

In addition to his parents and grandparents, Tom was preceded in death by a sister, Vicky Davis.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 P.M., Tuesday, Septem­ber 7, 2010 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Funeral services will be at the New Russia Township Cemetery Pavilion, 12528 Oberlin Rd, Oberlin, at 11 A.M., Wednesday, Septem­ber 8, 2010, with Chaplain John Dezso officiating. Inter­ment with Military Rites will follow. A gathering for family and friends will be held at the New Russia Township Hall, 46268 Butternut Ridge Rd., Oberlin following the burial.
