Looking for Lorain County love: Why do you love it here?
Yes, I know that headline sounds like an ad for an online dating site. That wasn’t my intention — although, if that’s your thing, then feel free to borrow it, and if it works out, I’ll be expecting an invitation to the wedding.
But what I’m truly looking for are reasons why you love Lorain County. Your answers can be simple, heartfelt, passionate; whatever works for you.
We’re fortunate to live in a county built on diversity. Factories and farms. City and country. We have luxury homes and golf-course cottages sitting next to century homes and big, red barns. We’re a blend of old-school values and new-school technologies.
So what is it about our area that you love?
It can be the Corn Festival in North Ridgeville.
Or Friday nights watching the Avon Lake Shoremen chase another spot in the football playoffs.
The hubba-hubba bartenders at Church Street Bar & Grille in Amherst.
The incredible opportunities at LCCC and JVS.
The Dairy Queen where you and your true love shared your first kiss.
Or how about homecoming weekend at Keystone, grabbing a Smitty burger for lunch, or digging your toes in the sand at Lakeview beach?
This is about the food, the places, the events, the sports, the music, the businesses, the history, and most of all, the people.
Give it some thought, and then send me an e-mail to rdawson@chroniclet.com. In a few weeks, I’ll run your responses. Some you’ll agree with, some you won’t, and some will encourage you to seek out new experiences close to home.
And as always, thank you for taking the time to contribute and share your ideas. You’re the reason we have so much fun in the Accent Loft, and why we’re constantly striving to make The Chronicle-Telegram better every day.
See you soon!
