CLEVELAND – Quarterback Seneca Wallace will get his first start for the Browns today, replacing Jake Delhomme, who injured his ankle last Sunday in the opening loss.
Delhomme was inactive – not even the third quarterback — so the question becomes if he’ll be ready to play next week in Baltimore. Coach Eric Mangini said Friday he thought it was a one-week interview, but you never know for sure.
Wallace took the first-team repetitions all week in practice and was excited for the opportunity. He’s 5-9 as a starter in his seven-year career.
The Browns will unveil the Ring of Honor at halftime, honoring the team’s 16 Hall of Famers. Running back Jim Brown isn’t in attendance, but commissioner Roger Goodell is.
** The Browns other inactives are: offensive lineman Shawn Lauvao, running back Carlton Mitchell, defensive back Derrick Roberson, linebacker D’Qwell Jackson, tight end Alex Smith and offensive lineman Steve Vallos.
** Defensive end Tyson Jackson and offensive lineman Ryan O’Callaghan led the Chiefs inactives. Former Brown Shaun Smith started for Jackson.
