Voters passed the levy, 60,225 to 36,589, or, 62.21 percent to 37.79 percent.
The levy will add another $3.37 in property taxes per $100,000 of home value.
This levy, which will provide about $9.5 million, accounts for about half of Lorain County Children’s Services’ budget. The money from the levy will go towards the care and placement of abused and neglected children, and for the Bureau of Children with Medical Handicaps.
Children’s Services has been reducing staff and budget, cutting 10 jobs since 2008 and trimming more than $2 million from its budget.
