Lorain house fire arson, authorities say

LORAIN — Firefighters and police were called to a house fire overnight, and they believe it was intentionally set, according to a police report.

Firefighters and police were called to 932 W. 17th St. about 2:40 this morning.

According to the report, carpet in the first-floor living room was determined to be the point of origin of the fire.

Police and firefighters believe the fire was started by someone staying in the home, which has been vacant.

No one was located in the home during the response to the fire an no one approached authorities claiming to have started it, the report said.

According to the auditor’s website, the home’s owner is John Ritenauer, the report said.
