Browns trail 3-0 after 1st quarter

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Browns trailed 3-0 after a quarter and had lost starting cornerback Eric Wright to a knee injury.

He walked to the locker room after initial needing help to get off the field. His return was announced as questionable. Rookie Joe Haden replaced him, and Eric King – signed Tuesday – played in the nickel package. He made a tackle on his first defensive play with the Browns.

Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee made a 47-yard field goal to give the Jaguars the lead. It’s the second straight week the Browns allowed a field goal on the opponent’s opening drive.

The Browns, already short-handed by injuries, got lucky when tight end Benjamin Watson returned from what appeared to be an ankle injury.

The Browns were driving at the end of the period.
