Amherst Hospital to become skilled nursing facility

EMH Healthcare, which owns Amherst Hospital, will convert the hospital to a skilled nursing facility as of July 11.

Hospital officials made the announcement today in advance of the hospital’s system’s annual meeting.

The facility will keep its emergency room, but patients no longer will be admitted into the facility for inpatient care. Services to support its new role will remain at the site, such as the laboratory, X-ray facility and pharmacy.
