Pearce would like to remind residents that as temperatures rise, it is important to know what simple steps to take when preparing and handling food. Remember these food safety tips for a happy and healthy summer…

  • CLEAN: Wash Hands and Surfaces Often
  • SEPARATE: Don’t Cross-contaminate
  • CHILL: Refrigerate Promptly
  • COOK: Cook to Proper Temperatures

Got leftovers? Food left out of the refrigerator for more than 2 hours may not be safe to eat. If temps are above 90° F, food should not be left out for more than 1 hour. When finished eating, put leftover perishables back on ice or in the refrigerator as soon as possible.
