Capsized riders rescued by Vermilion

VERMILION — Capsized personal watercraft riders had to be rescued by the Vermilion police harbor patrol Monday.

Five of the nine riders were in the water when rescuers arrived around 3:22 p.m., according to a news release from police Capt. Michael Reinheimer.

Two of the watercraft capsized during a turn and a third stalled. The five people in the water were there for 10 to 15 minutes in water temperatures of 55 to 60 degrees. None were hurt, according to Reinheimer.
