ELYRIA – Avon High School will have a new principal next year.
Chad Coffman, who lead the high school for the past decade, tendered his resignation July 6. He has accepted a post with the Parma school district, where he’ll serve as the principal of Parma High School.
Coffman “served the school faithfully for many years,” Superintendent Jim Reitenbach said.
Reitenbach said Coffman’s resignation was not a surprise.
He’s “been very honest with me from the beginning,” Reitenbach said. “He got offered a decent job as a principal in Parma. He’s done a lot of great work for Avon High School.”
The Parma City Schools’ Board of Education met Tuesday July 5 with Coffman to confirm his position at Parma High, one of three high schools in that district.
Reitenbach said that he is not sure exactly when the district will fill Coffman’s position.
“There are a few people from within the Avon school district that will apply for the position,” Reitenbach said. “We have enough time before school starts to really do an extensive search for the right person.”
