Chad Coffman, who led the high school for the past decade, tendered his resignation Wednesday. He has accepted a post with the Parma Schools, where he’ll serve as the principal of Parma High School.
Coffman “served the school faithfully for many years,” Superintendent Jim Reitenbach said.
Reitenbach said Coffman’s resignation was not a surprise.
He’s “been very honest with me from the beginning,” Reitenbach said. “He got offered a decent job as a principal in Parma. He’s done a lot of great work for Avon High School.”
The Parma Schools Board of Education met Tuesday with Coffman to confirm his new position at Parma High, one of three high schools in that district.
Reitenbach said he is not sure exactly when the district will fill Coffman’s position.
“There are a few people from within the Avon school district that will apply for the position,” Reitenbach said. “We have enough time before school starts to really do an extensive search for the right person.”
Coffman, a 1985 graduate of Midview High School, attended Kent State University for his undergraduate degree.
