The 40-year-old woman said she was struck by the man at her residence in the 1500 block of East 30th Street about 7:45 p.m.
When police responded to reports of an assault, the woman said her attacker was hiding from them in an upstairs bedroom. As police prepared to enter the house, they saw a man fall from a second floor window and run off.
Police, with the help of a K-9 unit, chased the man into a marshy area between East 30th and East 29th streets, the report said, but the suspect was not found. Police told the woman they would file a temporary protection order on her behalf.
