Lawsuit filed against driver over Amherst head-on crash

AMHERST — A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of the family of a 90-year-old woman who was injured in a Jan. 10 head-on crash on North Main Street.

Ida Coolidge was a passenger in a van driven by Sheffield Lake resident Abby Pace, who works for Home Instead Senior Care. The lawsuit names Pace and the company as defendants. Coolidge died several weeks later, and the suit alleges the accident led to her death.

The suit, filed Wednesday in the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas, seeks more than $25,000 and accuses Pace of causing the crash.

Police said Pace, 24, swerved into a van driven by Ann Thompson of Berlin Heights.
