Tree service worker spiked in head while working at Lakeview Plaza

LORAIN — LifeFlight was been called to Mercy Regional Medical Center to meet the victim of an accident at the Lakeview Plaza high rise apartment complex in Lorain.

Jim Long, with the Lorain Metropolitan Housing Association, confirmed the man, who was working for a tree-trimming service, was taken to Mercy but did not know if he was LifeFlighted.

First responders said the man is 37 years old.

According to Long, one employee of Rob’s Tree Service was trimming a large oak tree in the complex’s court yard when his safety line slipped. He slid, and the spike from his shoe pierced the back of another employee’s head. He estimated the spike was an inch to an inch and a half long.

Long didn’t name either employee but said the injured man was conscious at the scene. The other employee was not hurt.
