Mantini said he never scratched out numbers on documents, but state law authorizes him to make changes in payments. Mantini said the accusations were political payback for his support of Chase Ritenauer, who defeated Krasienko in the May primary.
“These accusations are entirely unfounded and are merely an attempt to discredit me and my family, my staff at the auditor’s office, my friends and my reputation in this community,” he said.
Council members approved $13,500 for repairs at The Pipe Yard after Mantini’s statement.
Krasienko was absent from the meeting.
