Garage, 2 historical cars a total loss following fire overnight

CARLISLE TWP. — An East Avenue garage is a total loss following a fire overnight.

According to Fire Chief Kevin Dembiec, his department was called to 1347 East Ave. at 1:10 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find the garage fully engulfed in flames and the roof completely gone, he said.

He said the Fire Department arrived on scene at 1:16 a.m. and had the fire under control by about 1:30, which he considered “a fairly quick knockdown.”

No one was home when the fire started, and Dembiec said he’s unsure how long it had been burning before someone noticed it. The cause remains undetermined, he said.

Dembiec declined to put a monetary value on the loss but said the garage contained two vehicles from the 1960s and ’70s with historical plates as well as mowers, hand tools and other storage.
