Former prosecutor’s son suffers gunshot wound to head

BROWNHELM TWP. — Aaron Rosenbaum, the son of former Assistant Lorain County Prosecutor Jonathan Rosenbaum, was injured this morning by what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

According to a news release from the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the Rosenbaum home shortly before 9 a.m. by his family.

Aaron Rosenbaum, 26, was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center and then taken by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland for his injuries. Sheriff’s Capt. James Drozdowski said the younger Rosenbaum was conscious and talking when he left the house in an ambulance.

Aaron Rosenbaum accidentally shot his father in the back while the pair was at an Amherst Township gun club in 2008. The shooting left the elder Rosenbaum paralyzed from the waist down. A county grand jury declined to charge Aaron Rosenbaum in that shooting.
