ELYRIA – A 36-year-old Elyria woman rear-ended a patrol cruiser Saturday night while driving on East Broad Street near EMH Medical Center in Elyria.
Rebecca Gutowski was driving a Chevy Blazer and hit an Ohio Highway Patrol trooper while he was stopped at a red light. The woman was driving in the car with two small children, both of whom were buckled up, and she told the trooper her car’s brakes were not working right just prior to the accident. However, a check of her brakes found no problem.
No one was hurt, including Trooper Tim Hoffman, and Gutowski was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
The trooper’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
