9:06 a.m. – 9:06 a.m., 300 block Ninth St., homeowner said a man he was letting stay with him due to him being down on his luck took his car without permission and may have stolen $14,000 that was in his garage.
1:24 p.m. – 800 block West River Road N., Tracy L. Mason, 40, 800 block West River Road N., Elyria, charged with domestic violence.
4:57 p.m. – 300 block 10th St., man says another man punched him in the back of the head and stole his phone after saying he didn’t like something he thought he heard the alleged victim say to a woman who lives in the home where the alleged assault occurred.
6:12 p.m. – 200 block Cascade St., man with prosthetic leg said around 2:30 p.m. he was punched by his wife. Around 6 p.m., the man said the wife returned with about 10 people in three cars and he heard several bangs that sounded like firecrackers or gunshots. Police said no shell casings or spent rounds were found in the area and the man said he didn’t want to pursue domestic violence charges against his wife.

4:28 a.m. – purse with camera, phone and wallet stolen from trunk of car with no signs of forced entry. Driver believes entry made through partially opened rear window.
Friday, Aug. 19
8:49 p.m. – 4000 block of W. Erie Ave., Leslie J. Bates, 54, 4000 block W. Erie Ave., charged with domestic violence for allegedly threatening to shoot his estranged girlfriend. Police seized an unloaded pistol and magazine from Bates.
