Margaret Ruth Schubert Petersen

Margaret Ruth Schubert Petersen, 90, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in  Lorain. She born in Elyria, on September 1, 1921, to Frank  Elmer and Lucy (Eckert) Schubert. In 1976, she married  John “Pete” Petersen, who preceded her in death in May,  2003.

Margie was a graduate of Oberlin High School and the Ohio  State University. She began her career in the travel industry with Capitol Airlines, and later worked for Shipka  Travel Agency in Parma, and Thomas Cook in Detroit,  Michigan and Cleveland. She loved to travel and visited  many countries around the world during her lifetime.

She is survived by her nieces, Shirley Anne Saporito of  Boyton Beach, Florida, Jan Bechtel of Defiance, Ohio, Barb  Bechtel of Amherst, and Judy Schubert of Colorado; nephews, Raymond Schubert of Colorado and Kent (Susan Kim)  Bechtel of Kirtland, Ohio; brother-in-law, Donald Bechtel of  Birmingham, Ohio; and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents;  three sisters, Lucille Schubert, Cornelia Dague, and  Jeanette Bechtel; two brothers, William Schubert and one in  infancy; nephews, Kevin Bechtel and Charles Schubert; and  a great-nephew, Bruce Freeland.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2011  at 2:30 P.M. at Ridge Lawn Cemetery, Elyria. Her niece, The  Rev. Jan Bechtel, will officiate.

Hempel Funeral Home in Amherst, was honored to serve  the family of Margaret Petersen.
